I called, He answered

Today, my mom, Stacey, and Kyle picked me up from SC and decided to watch a movie to kill time and avoid LA traffic. We decided to watch a Korean movie called Dancing Queen. It was so so good… the English subtitles made it easier for all of us to understand the movie. I especially enjoy movies that can make you laugh like crazy and cry like crazy (,: After the movie, Stacey said that she was embarrassed of sitting by me because of my laughter… this girl…

Afterwards, I took them to Caffe Village because I wanted to share the wealth of LA Korean cafes/restaurants with them. When the beautiful cheese ddukbokgi, rose roll, and chicken salad came out, they instantly dug right in as they usually do when food is in front of them lol.

But for the first time, I felt this weird urge to pray for and before my family. It was like God poked me and whispered, “This is your chance, Connie!” Of course I knew it was going to be awkward, but I did gain some courage eventually, and interrupted Kyle, Stacey, and my mom to ask if I can pray for us. As expected, they looked back at with me a confused, what-the-heck-why-are-you-interrupting-my-dinner look, similar to her’s below…

… haha just kidding. They were just slightly surprised.

But they respected my request and put down their chopsticks. This was only my 3rd time praying before others, but I did what I could! After my prayer, I looked up and caught my mom smiling at me. I think it was a proud smile.

I know a simple prayer before eating seems mediocre and not even that big of a deal, but for my family, praying together and for each other is not something that we do normally; in fact, I think this is the very first time we ever have. Tonight, I felt God really answering my prayers to use me in bringing my family closer to Him and making prayer a normal routine in our lives. I hope that I can continue to portray God’s love and grace to my family through my actions and that one day, they can all be saved.

As we were leaving for home, I asked Kyle how he liked dinner tonight. He said it deserves five stars! God is good.
